Termination of reciprocating tachycardia by atrial stimulation.

چکیده
Recurrent tachyeardia in a 10-year-old child with acute rheumatic carditis was interpreted as being produced by a reciprocating (circus) mechanism involving either the normal atrioventricular pathway or the anomalous pathway of the Wolff-ParkinsonWhite syndrome. The tachycardia could be stopped by appropriately timed, electrically induced, atrial premature systoles, which apparently interrupted the circus movement.

Atrial tachyarrhythmias in infants.
This report describes clinical features and tactics of treatment of atrial tachyarrhythmias in infancy. Electrophysiologic study was performed in all 20 infants (2 weeks - 12 months old) in order to determine the mechanism of arrhythmia and to predict the clinical efficacy of management. Reciprocating mechanism was revealed in 12 infants. Atrial flutter was diagnosed for 10 infants among whom o...
متن کاملMechanism of reciprocating tachycardia initiated during sinus rhythm in concealed Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome: report of a case.
Reciprocating tachycardia in a patient with a leftsided atrioventricular accessory pathway (AP) (Kent bundle, type A) capable only of ventriculo-atrial (V-A) transmission is described. The V-A AP is established as an essential link of the tachycardia circuit, as evidenced by : 1) retrograde atrial activation of the left atrium (LA) 60 msec or more before the low and high right atrium during rec...
متن کاملChoice and Utility of Pacing Maneuver in Establishing the Mechanism of Supraventricular Tachycardia: A Single Center Experience
BACKGROUND To evaluate the choice and utility of pacing maneuvers in the electrophysiology (EP) laboratory in establishing supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) mechanism. METHODS We retrospectively examined a cohort of 160 consecutive patients with SVT presenting for invasive EP evaluation to a single center with 8 electrophysiologists. We analyzed the utility of the two most commonly used paci...
متن کاملFetal Atrial Flutter: Electrophysiology and Associations With Rhythms Involving an Accessory Pathway
BACKGROUND Atrial flutter (AFl) accounts for up to one third of all fetal tachyarrhythmias and can result in premature delivery, hydrops, and fetal death in 10% of cases; however, the electrophysiology of AFl in utero is virtually unstudied. METHODS AND RESULTS In this observational study, we reviewed 19 fetal magnetocardiography studies from 16 fetuses: 15 fetuses (21-38 weeks' gestation) re...
